The TOEIC, or Test Of English for International Communication, is one of the most sought-after foreign language qualifications in the world of work. It assesses your spoken and written language skills.

WHERE CAN YOU TAKE A TOEIC\u00ae<\/span> TEST?<\/h2>\n

TOEIC tests can only be taken by registering at an approved ETS GLOBAL examination centre in Paris or elsewhere in France. TOEIC tests take 2 hours and are conducted under exam conditions: answer sheets and multiple-choice questions are distributed, the rules of conduct are read aloud, and no mobile phones or documents are allowed.<\/p>\n

There are set time limits, but in one part of the test you are free to complete the exercises in whichever order you prefer. As well as being a competent linguist, you also need to be good at time management. As it is advisable to practise these skills beforehand, candidates are recommended to attend English lessons and prepare for their TOEIC test at a language learning centre.<\/p>\n

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT LEVEL I\u2019VE ACHIEVED\u00ae<\/span>?<\/h2>\n

All tests in the TOEIC programme\u00ae<\/span> are based on a score. The number of points obtained corresponds to a specific level on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).<\/p>\n

\u25cf 0 – 225 points = A1 Beginner
\u25cf 225 – 550 points = A2 Elementary
\u25cf 550 – 785 points = B1 Intermediate
\u25cf 785 – 945 points = B2 Upper Intermediate
\u25cf And with 945 or more points you are a recognised Expert, with level C1.<\/p>\n

Today, many educational establishments expect final year students to achieve at least 750 points (level B1). Some international companies also require a certain minimum TOEIC score to be able to access certain jobs.

WHAT DOES THE TOEIC\u00ae<\/span> LISTENING AND READING TEST CONSIST OF?<\/h2>\n

The TOEIC\u00ae<\/span> listening and reading test is in two parts. One aims to assess your listening skills and the other your reading comprehension.<\/p>\n

Each part comprises 100 questions offering a total score of 495 points. At the end of the exam, your skills will be assessed based on the 990 points available.<\/p>\n

Whether or not you finish the whole test, the number of Multiple-Choice Questions you answer correctly gives you a score out of 990.<\/p>\n

The Listening section takes 45 minutes and comprises 100 questions. You have to pay close attention to all the details and be able to understand a variety of different accents. There are 4 sub-sections (descriptions of pictures, short conversations, long conversations and spoken announcements) and you have to listen to various recordings to find the answers to the questions.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Reading section begins immediately after completion of the first, 45-minute listening exercise. There is no break between the two sections and you have 75 minutes to answer the 100 questions that make up the reading test.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The test comprises various types of short and longer texts written in English, and you have to answer the multiple-choice questions by reading the text carefully and then selecting the missing word or appropriate sentence.<\/h3>\n
